About Us
Mission:
Saint John’s Abbey Cemetery provides a
burial within the
Catholic burial tradition to the greater Saint John’s community.
That tradition flows out of fundamental tenets of the Catholic
faith including:
- The dignity of each human person;
- The importance of baptism into the faith;
- The reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
- The promise of Jesus that his followers will share eternal
life;
- The celebration of Eucharist as remembrance and thanksgiving.
Just as in life, we believe that in death the human body deserves
to be treated with respect and dignity. We foster a manner
of remembering that is enlightened by faith and that views death
as a bridge to the Communion of Saints. Our bond with God's people
is not broken by death.

Abbot Baldwin Dworschak, O.S.B., Cemetery Fund
Donations to the Abbot Baldwin Dworschak, O.S.B., Cemetery Fund
will be used to assist in the extraordinary projects of the Abbey
Cemetery, enhancing its beauty through the planting
of trees and shrubs, landscaping work, and the placement of religious
art.
Abbot Baldwin served as the sixth Abbot of Saint John’s
from 1951 until his retirement in 1971. For the next 20
years, his care for the souls of Saint John’s continued
as he tended the Abbey Cemetery as a retired volunteer. Abbot
Baldwin led the monastic community in designing and
building the Abbey Church. He had a personal passion for religious
art and contemporary religious architecture.
