The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Roman Klein, age 95 of St. Joseph, will be 10:30 AM Thursday, April 17 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Collegeville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Roman died Friday at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Wednesday, April 16 at St. John the Baptist Parish Center and again after 9:00 AM Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be 4:00 PM Wednesday evening at the parish center.

Roman was born June 21, 1912 in St. Cloud to George and Theresia (Meyer) Klein. He married Lucille Klocker on September 19, 1937 in Charles City, Iowa. The couple moved to California during WWII where Roman was a ship builder. They moved to Collegeville in 1945. Roman worked as a construction worker with Union 763 where he worked on the construction of the Saint John’s Abbey and St. John’s University. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Collegeville and he was active in Great Sioux League Baseball in Avon and he was a member of the National Council of Senior Citizens, Minnesota Senior Federation, St. Joseph Senior Citizens and Avon Senior Citizens and he was past president of the Senior Federation. Roman enjoyed gardening, his orchards, wine making, playing cards and fishing.

Roman is survived by his children; Elaine Eiynck, Donald "Tiny" (Erma) Klein, Dale (Kathy) Klein, Jerry (Colleen) Klein, Mel Klein, Diane "Bip" (Dale) Schneider, and Mark (Sherrie) Klein, all of St. Joseph and Ann (Steven) Hansen of Cold Spring and John "Huntz" (Sherri) Klein of Avon. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Sr. Elizabeth Klein, Hankinson, ND; Clara Therrien, St. Paul; David ‘50 (Elaine) Klein, St. Cloud; Hub, Prep ‘42 (Claudette) Klein, St. Joseph; Tillie (Roger) Sauerer, Inver Grove Heights; and Gerry (Mollie) Klein, Maplewood. He is also survived by 50 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille on November 30, 2007, his son, Wayne Klein, grandson, Jonathan, his parents and his brothers and sisters; Magdalen Schmitt, Leander Klein, Wilfred "Bill" Klein, Verner Klein, Gisela Crow and Viola Rand.
