A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Abbey Church, Collegeville for Miles J. Rychman, age 88 of Waite Park and formerly of Collegeville who passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery, Collegeville with military honors.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday with parish prayers at 5:00 p.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph and there will be a gathering of family and friends without a viewing after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Miles was born on September 14, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph and Luddie (Novotany) Rychman. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII and Air Force Reserve serving as a pilot. He retired at the rank of Captain in 1968. Miles was united in marriage to Lorraine A. Haley on March 2, 1946 in Minneapolis. The couple moved to the St. Cloud area in 1959. After their children were grown they moved to Big Watab Lake near Collegeville. Miles has lived at Park Garden Apartments since 2009. He was employed as an Insurance Investigator at Retail Credit Company, later he was employed by Mark's Realty as a Real Estate Agent and Property Manager, retiring in 1992. Miles was a member of the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428, Big Watab Lake Association, St. John the Baptist Parish, he volunteered at the parish breakfasts and he was a Lake Shore Volunteer.

Miles will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Nancy (Mark) Schmitz of Sartell, Sally (Steve) Spoden of St. Cloud, and Mary (Bruce) Robinson of Laporte, Colorado; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Loren of Albert Lea; and Dear Friend, Verena Sakry of Waite Park.

Miles was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine on March 13, 2002; and infant daughter, Joy Ann.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
