Urban A. Notsch, age 84

Avon, Minnesota

Passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 surrounded by his family. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.

Family and friends may call between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Parish Center in Collegeville and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Parish prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the parish center.

Urban was born on May 27, 1927 in St. Joseph, Minnesota to Anton and Mary (Kosel) Notsch. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1961 and while stationed in England he met and married Mildred Lloyd on September 5, 1953. Urban was employed as a propane gas deliveryman for over 27 years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Senior Citizens and St. John the Baptist Parish where he ushered.

He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred; children, David, Stephen (Karen) of Big Lake, Margie (Dennis) Hiemenz of Clearbrook, Alan (Birgit)of Sauk Rapids, Carl (LeAnna) of Florida, Andy (Gloria) of Avon, Sandy Notsch of Little Falls, Nancy (Ed) Uhlenkamp of Clarissa, Barbara Notsch of Foley, Lloyd (Sandra) of Cold Spring; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Donald of St. Cloud, Evelyn Theisen of St. Cloud and Marie Hagen of Rockville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Anton, Joseph, Olivia, Fred, Esther, Edwin, Marcella, Herman, Leona and William.
