Catherine M. Nierengarten, 57 St. Paul and formerly of St. Cloud Sept 20, 1958 - Oct 1, 2015 Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 pm, Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. John's Abbey Church, Collegeville for Catherine M. Nierengarten, age 57, of St. Paul. Fathers Alberic Culhane and Jonathan Licari will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 pm, Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Abbey Church prior to the service. Catherine was born in St. Cloud to Roger and Dolores (Lehman) Nierengarten on September 20, 1958. She graduated from Cathedral High School, and attended the College of St. Benedict and Loyola University of Chicago and graduated from St. Catherine's University in St. Paul. Her vitality and unique passion were reflected in the many artistic pursuits she engaged in, among them playing in a rock-and-roll band in Chicago, acting, and creative writing and poetry. Perhaps most of all, her artistry came through in her overall approach to life as a woman full of spirit and compassion. She affected many people with those qualities, and she is missed dearly. Catherine is survived by her mother, Dolores Nierengarten of St. Cloud; and sisters, Therese Nierengarten (Mark Conway) of Avon, Mary Beth Nierengarten (Michael Rosenfeld) of Minneapolis, Carolyn Highfield (Matt Highfield) of Plymouth, nieces and nephews, and long-time friend Jon Norstad. She is preceded in death by her father, Roger Nierengarten, December, 22, 2013.
